Following the launch of the Department of Health and Social Care’s Care Workforce Pathway, healthcare education startup FuturU has announced its plans to develop one of the first Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualifications, subject to Skills for Care and Ofqual approval. In a move that bucks the trends of education delivery in this space, FuturU intends to act as both training provider and awarding organisation, offering learners and employers an end-to-end experience with high quality delivery and support.

According to Skills for Care, 54% of direct care workers do not have a Level 2 or above qualification. The Care Workforce Pathway is designed to provide care professionals with a recognised qualification pathway to develop themselves and their careers. The Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualification will help new and existing adult social care professionals to take their first step on the pathway.

As a training provider, FuturU has created more than 100 training courses for health and social care professionals, which are free to access for individuals via its digital learning platform. More than 75,000 learners use FuturU’s training, which covers everything from compliance and professional development to mental health, wellness, and care skills and procedures. FuturU’s digital-first approach means that learners across the country can access the training on-demand via their phone or computer.

FuturU already offers the learning required for the current Care Certificate, to support employers in their initial development of their staff. Over 1,500 learners have completed or are undertaking the Care Certificate through FuturU. All of the learning is both character-based and scenario-driven, which is proven to increase knowledge retention. The learning also mimics real-life working environments to better prepare learners for the practicalities of their role.

FuturU is also an Ofqual recognised awarding organisation for apprenticeship end point assessments and has supported over 6,000 apprentices through their end-point assessment. By developing the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate, FuturU intends to demonstrate its ability to design, deliver, assess and award other types of qualification.

Claudia Luca, Director of Education at FuturU, said: “As specialists in the health and social care sector, we’re excited to be among the first awarding organisations committed to developing the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualifications. We’re passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology when it comes to training and assessments and providing learners with unrivalled learning experiences. From our content creation tool to virtual assessments and interactive learning material, we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in social care education and training. We hope to work with forward-thinking employers who share our commitment to innovation within the learning and development space.”
