Course Description

You may not think you work with or come into contact with hazardous substances, and you may even be thinking what actually are hazardous substances. If that’s the case, take this training to find out more about COSHH and what this means. COSHH is a UK legislation that stands for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. It aims to protect you and your employer from any physical harm or legal complications by ensuring everybody follows the necessary guidelines to maintain safety and welfare when working with hazardous substances.

Key objectives:

  • Be able to define what COSHH is and means, as well as substances hazardous to health
  • Know of the different laws & legislations around COSHH
  • Be aware of the responsibilities of the employer & employee
  • Know of the common substances you may encounter
  • Understand the importance of classifying substances and their labels
  • Recognise the different ways exposure can occur and how to treat these
  • Be able to recall the different steps to a COSHH assessment
  • Remember the different types of PPE available
