Whether you’re delivering frontline support or leading a team, the emotional demands of care work are real – and they deserve attention.

To mark World Mental Health Day, we’ve created two free downloadable guides: one for care professionals, and one for care managers. Each guide is packed with practical advice, wellbeing strategies and training available through FuturU.

What is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day is held every year on 10 October. It’s a global moment to raise awareness of mental health issues, challenge stigma and promote support for those who need it.

This year’s theme is all about mental health as a universal human right – and in the care sector, that starts with supporting the people who provide care every day.

What’s inside the guides?

We’ve created two tailored guides – one for care professionals and one for care managers – each designed to offer practical, accessible support around mental health and wellbeing.

Whether you’re working on the frontline or leading a team, these guides are packed with tools, tips and free resources to help you feel more confident, supported and informed.

📘 For care professionals

This guide is designed for anyone working directly in care – support workers, healthcare assistants, nurses and more. It focuses on helping you look after your own wellbeing while continuing to care for others.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Self-care strategies that fit into busy schedules – from micro-moments of calm to stress-reducing habits
  • A full breakdown of our free wellness modules from inner wellness coach Suhail Mirza, covering mindfulness, self-compassion, gratitude and more
  • Access to on-demand webinars focused on stress awareness and resilience
  • A round-up of mental health courses to help you support those in your care – including topics like depression, trauma, self-harm and substance abuse.

📗 For care managers

This guide is built for leaders in the sector – care home managers, team leads, and anyone responsible for supporting staff wellbeing. It offers practical advice on how to create a mentally healthy workplace and support your team with confidence.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Actionable ways to support your team’s wellbeing, from spotting early signs to building a culture of appreciation
  • A step-by-step guide on how to have wellbeing conversations with staff
  • Tips for managing your own wellbeing as a leader – because your health matters too
  • An overview of FuturU’s learning platform for organisations
  • A curated list of mental health courses to help your team support residents and service users with empathy and skill.
