New course: Menopause Awareness

Right now, in the UK alone, it’s estimated that around 13 million women are navigating the complexities of menopause – that’s one-third of the female population. Yet, all too often, the resources available to support them are heavily clinical, focusing on a narrow range of symptoms and failing to capture the diverse realities of this life stage.

That’s what drove us to create the latest course on the FuturU platform – Menopause Awareness.

We believe that menopause isn’t just a medical condition; it’s a deeply personal journey. And that’s why our online course is fundamentally person-centred, capturing the authentic voices of nine women to empower you with a practical knowledge and understanding of menopause, whether you’re experiencing it yourself or supporting someone who is.

What our Menopause Awareness course covers

This 60-minute course provides a holistic understanding of menopause, covering:

  • The stages of menopause
We clarify the different phases – perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause – and what to expect at each stage.

  • Physiological changes
We explore the key hormonal shifts and other changes happening within the body, and how they can impact both physical and mental health.

  • Hormone harmony
We outline the main hormones involved and their role.

  • Self-care strategies
We share a range of practical self-help practices to manage symptoms, including advice on regulating sleep, maintaining a healthy diet, managing stress and staying active.

  • Supporting others
We explain how to effectively support someone going through the menopause with empathy and understanding.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for:

  • Women experiencing perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause
  • Partners, family members and friends who want to better understand and support their loved ones as they go through this transition
  • Those working in a care profession who are supporting others
  • Employers seeking to create a more supportive and informed workplace
  • Anyone interested in learning more about menopause and women’s health.

We use the term
woman and the pronouns she/her throughout this course. The term woman includes anyone who experiences menopause, and we acknowledge that this includes some trans men and some non-binary individuals. However, please note that their needs are unique and are not separately explored in this course.
