Proper nutrition and hydration are cornerstones of wellbeing. And FuturU’s new Fluids & Nutrition course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure the individual’s you care for, and especially older adults, receive the essential nutrients and fluids they need to live well.

Why fluids and nutrition matter

It goes without saying that dehydration and malnutrition can have serious consequences for health. And as a caregiver, it’s essential you understand the importance of fluids and a balanced diet, and the role you play to meet an individual’s needs, preferences and cultural considerations.

That’s where our Fluid & Nutrition course comes in.

Course highlights

In just 45 minutes, you’ll cover a range of topics related to nutrition and hydration including:

  • The critical link between nutrition and fluid intake, and how they influence health
  • The signs and symptoms of poor nutrition and dehydration, and what you can do about them
  • The practical ways you can encourage individuals to drink adequately, and the drinking aids available to help
  • The reasons why you might need to monitor an individual’s fluid intake and output, and how to do so
  • The strategies you can use to support mealtimes, as well as the potential barriers to eating
  • The ways you can adapt your approach based on an individual’s needs, preferences and cultural considerations, and where to go for additional support.
