The 2024–25 Annual insights report is here – and it’s packed with practical guidance for training providers, employers and anyone involved in apprenticeship assessment.
Why we created this report
Apprenticeship assessment is evolving, and staying ahead of the curve has never been more important.
At FuturU, we’ve delivered thousands of End-Point Assessments (EPAs) across a growing portfolio of standards. This year alone, our learner numbers increased by 206.5%. That growth has given us a rich dataset to analyse – and a responsibility to share what we’ve learnt.
The Excellence in EPA: Annual Insights Report 2024–25 brings together key trends, practical strategies and expert insights to help you deliver better outcomes for your apprentices.
What the report covers
This year’s report is more than a review – it’s a roadmap. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll find inside:
01 Lessons from the last year
We break down what worked – and why. From early intervention to mock assessments, we explore the strategies that helped us maintain an 89.2% first-time pass rate, even as learner numbers surged.
You’ll also hear directly from apprentices about what helped them feel confident and prepared, including:
- Mock questions and structured prep
- Webinars that reduced anxiety
- Simple tech-readiness calls that made a big difference.
02 Getting set for success in 2025
We outline three key enablers that consistently lead to better outcomes, and tackle common challenges apprentices face – like applying theory without a relevant job role – sharing what works in response.
03 Supporting higher grades and wellbeing
Helping apprentices aim for distinction takes more than just covering the basics. This year, 59.9% of learners achieved a high grade, with a true high-grade rate of 65.77% when accounting for all completions.
We share:
- Tips for teaching analysis and evaluation
- Real-world examples and model responses
- Advice for managing nerves and preparing for assessment day.
You’ll also find a step-by-step EPA preparedness checklist to help every learner feel confident and capable.
04 Partnering for success
We’re proud to be a trusted partner to over 25 training providers across the UK. In 2024/25, we launched three new standards – all with a 100% first-time pass rate.
We now offer EPA for 12 apprenticeship standards, from Level 2 to Level 5, including:
- Adult Care Worker
- Business Administrator
- Team Leader or Supervisor
- Children, Young People and Families Practitioner
And more are on the way in 2026.
05 Preparing for Ofqual’s 2025 reforms
The report also includes a detailed breakdown of Ofqual’s proposed Regulatory Framework for Apprenticeship Assessments (RFAA) – and what it means for you.
We explain:
- The shift from EPA to Apprenticeship Assessment
- New roles for providers and employers
- How assessment design is changing
- What we’re doing to stay ahead.
Our strategy is already aligned with the new framework, and we’re ready to support providers through the transition.
