We’re excited to announce the launch of two new End-Point Assessment (EPA) standards designed to support professionals working with children, young people and families:
- Children, Young People and Families Practitioner – Level 4
- Children, Young People and Families Manager – Level 5.
These qualifications reflect the diverse settings and responsibilities within the sector, offering two distinct pathways at each level:
Level 4: Children, Young People and Families Practitioner
- Option 1: Practitioner in children’s residential care
- Option 2: Practitioner within the community.
This qualification focuses on direct work with children and families, safeguarding, building relationships, and supporting positive outcomes. It is assessed by an observation of practice and a competence interview informed by a portfolio.
Level 5: Children, Young People and Families Manager
- Option 1: Manager in children’s residential care
- Option 2: Manager within the community.
This qualification emphasises leadership, strategic planning, supervision, and driving service improvement across teams and settings. It is assessed by a situational judgement test and a competence interview informed by a portfolio.
Whether working in residential homes, youth justice, education or community settings, these standards are ideally suited to roles such as:
- Registered Manager – Children’s Home
- Duty Manager
- Team Manager – Community
- Youth Justice Practitioner/Manager
- Manager in Educational or Community Settings.
Both standards are designed to ensure professionals are equipped with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families.
