When your team is happy and healthy, they feel motivated, confident and able to provide the highest quality care.

But care professionals face a unique combination of challenges, which can leave them feeling overworked, overwhelmed and exhausted, with little time for self-care.

As a manager, you have a responsibility to support your team’s wellbeing. That’s why we’ve created a free downloadable checklist, to help you identify and address potential wellbeing issues early.

Why employee wellbeing matters

It’ll come as no surprise that supporting your team’s wellbeing is essential for both individual and organisational success. When your team feels valued, supported and engaged, they’re far more likely to:

Be happier in their job
When you show your team you care about their wellbeing, they’ll feel supported, valued and more satisfied in their role.

Stay
Investing in the wellbeing of your team can result in lower staff turnover, saving your organisation money and time, and ensuring the continuity of care for service users.

Be resilient
A strong sense of wellbeing can help your team cope with stress and adversity more effectively – an essential skill in any caregiving role.

Provide high quality care
How’s anyone supposed to care for others if their own wellbeing is under strain? Happy and healthy employees will be far better equipped to provide compassionate and effective care.

How to use this free download

We’ve created a free downloadable checklist to help you spot potential signs of poor wellbeing relating to; timekeeping and absence, work and productivity, mood and attitude, and appearance and behaviour.

This download also covers some of the simple ways you can support your team’s wellbeing day-to-day.

We recommend making a habit of regularly reviewing the checklist for each team member, and incorporating wellbeing-focused questions into your 1:1 discussions. If something feels off, don’t hesitate to have a conversation, but remember, you’re not a GP or therapist, so always signpost professional help if you think it might be needed.

By using this checklist and taking proactive steps to support your team’s wellbeing, you can create a happier, healthier and more productive workplace for all.
