Care Certificate: May update

A caregiver puts her arm around a woman while both smile

Last month, we announced our intention to develop one of the first Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualifications, subject to Ofqual approval. Since then our team has been busy working hard behind the scenes to bring our ambitious plans to life.

We’ve had a great deal of interest, from employers and learners alike, about the qualification we’re developing, and wanted to share a quick update on what we’ve been working on, and what’s to come next.

Approval from Skills for Care

We’re excited to have received approval from Skills for Care on the structure of our Care Certificate training. Skills for Care are the sector specialists – they’ve set the standard for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate – so to have their approval on the way we’re planning to deliver our qualification is a significant step forward.

It’s a big stamp of approval for our innovative scenario-based online learning approach too, which sits alongside and complements the hands-on work-based experience learners will gain, highlighting that we’ve met the necessary criteria, and that our approach meets the needs of learners.

Submission to Ofqual in review

The final piece of the puzzle from a regulatory perspective is approval from Ofqual, the government body responsible for the regulation of qualifications, exams and tests in England. Ofqual will review our quality processes to ensure we’re delivering and assessing learning outcomes appropriately and upholding the standard of the qualification. Ultimately, they’re there to ensure that everyone that goes through the qualification with FuturU attains the skills and knowledge needed.

We expect to hear back from Ofqual around the beginning of July, after which we hope to launch the qualification and enrol our first learners.

Learning content in build

The work doesn’t stop while we await the decision from Ofqual – our team’s very busy building our learning content. A part of this work is the development of our lovely characters that learners will meet and engage with. This work has been reviewed by a vast number of care experts to ensure the scenarios our learners encounter are realistic, relevant and relatable to real life situations. Our goal is to make the learning experience as real to life as possible.

Ensuring a smooth journey for learners and their employers

Another big piece of work we’re doing right now is to ensure that both learners and their employers have a smooth journey through the qualification via our platform, from the point of enrolment all the way through to assessment.

From easy enrolment and an engaging learning experience through to super clear progress tracking and a seamless booking experience when learners are deemed ready for assessment, we’re working hard to ensure a robust and stress-free journey from start to finish.

Introductory webinars now available on-demand

We’ve hosted two webinars, for learners and employers, all about the new qualification.
