Care Certificate: June update

Two women hold hands

It might be hard to believe, but we’re already halfway through 2024, and another month closer to the launch of FuturU’s Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate, subject to Ofqual approval.

There’s been plenty going on behind the scenes here at FuturU HQ since our last update in May. Here’s everything you need to know.

An update on funding

Earlier this year, the Department of Health and Social Care announced that £53.91m of funding would be available to eligible employers, to support 37,000 people working in direct adult care in England to complete the qualification between June 2024 and March 2025.

In light of the pre-election period starting on 25 May 2024, any decision or wider activity relating to making this funding available is suspended, pending fresh consideration by the government that forms following the General Election on 4 July 2024.

This is a standard pre-election practice. An update on the funding is expected to be provided to awarding organisations at a meeting scheduled for 11 July. We hope to be able to feed this update back to those interested in enrolling their team in our qualification at our next introductory webinar for organisations, which will take place on Thursday 18 July – more on that below!

Submission to Ofqual remains in review

As mentioned last month, Ofqual, the government body responsible for the regulation of qualifications, exams and tests in England, is in the process of reviewing our quality processes to ensure we’re delivering and assessing learning outcomes appropriately and upholding the standard of the qualification.

We expect to hear back from Ofqual around the beginning of July.

Online learning built and ready to go!

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that all of our qualification’s online learning has now been built and has moved into the quality assurance phase. Huge kudos to our incredible team of experts who’ve worked so hard to create an extensive suite of immersive online learning.

As is the process with all new FuturU courses, our Quality Assurance team of subject matter experts are now crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s to ensure the Care Certificate learning content and experience is of the highest quality from start to finish.

Our team is growing

We’ve introduced two new roles to the team delivering the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate. Lisa, who previously worked as a Lead IQA in our End-Point Assessment team, has now taken on the new role of Curriculum Manager. And Noshaba has joined FuturU as our Learner Support Coordinator. Both Lisa and Noshaba will play a key role in supporting learners and organisations throughout their Care Certificate journey with us.

Join an introductory webinar in July

We’re hosting two introductory webinars – one for learners on Thursday 4 July, and one for organisations on Thursday 18 July – all about the qualification we’re building and the latest information on launch and funding.
